Water Consumption Pattern Analysis Using Biclustering: When, Why and How
نویسندگان
چکیده
Sensors deployed within water distribution systems collect consumption data that enable the application of analysis techniques to extract essential information. Time series clustering has been traditionally applied for modeling end-user profiles aid management. However, its effectiveness is limited by diversity and local nature patterns. In addition, existing cannot adequately handle changes in household composition, disruptive events (e.g., vacations), dynamics at different time scales. this context, biclustering approaches provide a natural alternative detect groups end-users with coherent during periods while addressing aforementioned limitations. This work discusses when, why how apply analysis, further proposes methodology end. To best our knowledge, first introducing analysis. Results on from real-world system—Quinta do Lago, Portugal—confirm potentialities proposed approach pattern discovery guarantees statistical significance robustness entities can rely strategic planning.

Application of qualitative research in management (why, when and how) Qualitative research has been increasingly used in all sciences. In this paper we will discuss about the applications of qualitative research methods in management sciences. The differences between quantitative and qualitative researches will be clarified and the statistical methods which are suitable for such researches will...
متن کاملMutual Information Analysis: How, When and Why?
The Mutual Information Analysis (MIA) is a generic sidechannel distinguisher that has been introduced at CHES 2008. This paper brings three contributions with respect to its applicability to practice. First, we emphasize that the MIA principle can be seen as a toolbox in which different (more or less effective) statistical methods can be plugged in. Doing this, we introduce interesting alternat...
متن کاملDecoronation: how, why, and when?
Decoronation is a surgical method for treating ankylosed incisors in children and adolescents. The crown and root filling are removed, leaving the root in situ to be resorbed and covered with a mucoperiosteal flap. Early loss of a permanent tooth leads to loss of alveolar bone, especially in buccopalatal width. Decoronation preserves not only the width of the ridge but also the vertical height.
متن کاملWeighting: Why, When, and How?*
1. Introduction Fundamental questions about weighting (Fig 1) seem to be ~ most common during the analysis of survey data and I encounter them almost every week. Yet we "lack a single, reasonably comprehensive, introductory explanation of the process of weighting" [Sharot 1986], readily available to and usable by survey practitioners, who are looking for simple guidance, and this paper aims to ...
متن کاملTracheostomy: why, when, and how?
Tracheostomy is one of the most frequent procedures performed in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Of the many purported advantages of tracheostomy, only patient comfort, early movement from the ICU, and shorter ICU and hospital stay have significant supporting data. Even the belief of increased safety with tracheostomy may not be correct. Various techniques for tracheostomy have been develop...
